The Black History Festival 2024 launched its media campaign on Saturday, January 27, 2024, captivating audiences with its mission to bring the global black community closer together and highlight the richness of African and black history.
Speaking at the launch, Executive Coordinator, Mr. Stephen Selasie Asuo, emphasized the importance of African history education.
He stressed, “Black history is not thoroughly taught in our classrooms; we have to tell our own stories through events like the Black History Festival.”
Scheduled to take place from February 22-24, the three-day festival promises a dynamic lineup of activities, including cultural celebrations, honoring influential black figures, and showcasing diverse vendors featuring cultural clothing, food, arts, and more.
During the media launch, Mr. Asuo revealed that distinguished guests, including Presidents from various African countries and Prime Ministers from the Caribbean, are expected to attend.
The festival aims to create a space for networking, inspiration, and learning, inviting people of African descent to actively participate.
Highlighting the global impact of Africans, Mr. Asuo and other organizers urged attendees to seize the opportunity to invest in Africa.
Meanwhile, some expressed concern over China’s increasing influence in Africa, “Instead of relying on aid from the US, China, and the EU, individuals of global African descent can contribute to Africa’s development by actively investing in the continent.”
Moreover, the organizers emphasized the festival’s role in encouraging the African diaspora to contribute to the continent’s development.
As the event draws near, the Black History Festival 2024 stands not only as a celebration of cultural heritage but also as a call to action for the global African diaspora to play a vital role in the future of Africa’s growth and prosperity.
