The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) appointed Ariel Peguero as an associate for its Grants and Community Engagement department.
“With a diverse background in art and design, Peguero brings a unique perspective and skill set to the team,” said Tom Katzenmeyer, president and CEO of GCAC.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Peguero holds a BFA in advertising and graphic design from Columbus College of Art & Design, with a minor in fine arts. He has been an active member of the Columbus arts community, showcasing his talents as a muralist and graphic designer. Peguero’s work often incorporates technology, including augmented reality, to enhance traditional art forms.
“We are thrilled to have Ariel join our team,” said Tom Katzenmeyer, president and CEO of GCAC.
“His experience, work ethic, and expertise will be invaluable as our granting programs continue to expand. He will play a crucial role in helping artists make the most of our funding opportunities.”
In his new role, Peguero will assist in managing and promoting GCAC’s various grant programs, which support artists and arts organizations in the Columbus area. He will also be involved in community engagement initiatives, working to connect artists and their work with the broader community.
Peguero’s passion for art and technology, coupled with his commitment to supporting and promoting fellow artists, make him a valuable addition to the GCAC team. The council is excited to see the impact he will have on the Columbus arts community in his new role.
Peguero will oversee the Funds for Artists grants and the Dresden Artist Exchange program, in addition to handling customer service and administrative tasks for the Grants & Community Engagement department. This includes managing the budget, reviewing grant applications, coordinating with artists and organizations, and ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
