Samaritan’s Feet International, in partnership with the Columbus Global Academy on Sunday, April 28, 2024, gave away 400 free pairs of shoes to students and families in need in Columbus, Ohio.
Working with volunteers, including community leaders Bertha Obayuwana and Imran Malik, Samaritan’s Feet International ensured that those that came on Sunday got new shoes to take home.
Samaritan’s Feet International plans to return to Columbus soon with the goal of giving away 4,000 pairs of new shoes to families who need them by the end of the year.
The organization’s Senior Program Manager, Deborah Cox-Roush, expressed that the goal of the One City Columbus initiative is to “Give Hope and New Shoes to Children and Seniors in Columbus.”
Samaritan’s Feet International aims to distribute 1.1 million pairs of shoes in 2024, building on its past success of delivering 10.2 million pairs of new shoes to families around the world.
In 2023, Samaritan’s Feet served over 3,500 individuals in Columbus through the One City Columbus initiative, and they hope to continue making an impact in 2024 by providing new shoes to an additional 4,000 children, adults, and seniors in the area through multiple activations.
Community leader Imran Malik said “Samaritan’s Feet International always needs volunteers and donors to support its mission of providing new shoes to those in need. Anyone interested in getting involved can visit the organization’s website for more information on how to help make a difference in the Columbus community.”
