Central Ohio non-profit, Our Helpers will distribute over 800 toys and gifts to 150 families with children ranging from newborns to teens on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Linden Community Center, 1350 Briarwood Avenue, Columbus, Ohio from 4:00PM-7:30PM.
“We believe every child in our community deserves to experience joy during the holidays. Our Helpers is supporting and empowering immigrant and refugee families in Central Ohio,” according to Our Helpers in an email to New Americans.
As part of an annual event tagged “Toys for Joy: Eid Celebration” the Ohio nonprofit said that “Eid Al Fitr is a joyous occasion celebrated by Muslims around the world at the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan. This festival is a time of feasting, exchanging gifts, and spending quality time with family and loved ones.”
“However, for many Muslim families living in Central Ohio, providing a joyous Eid for their children can be a challenge due to financial constraints.”
The event will kick off with a presentation and remarks from the Our Helpers’ team. The second half of the event will be the Toy Distribution Event.
