Central Ohio-based community organizations APJ and People Like Me Project will host the 11th Annual Central Ohio “Honoring the Legacy” event to recognize African American Leaders making positive changes in the community on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio.
The event which aims to inspire and empower others to continue this legacy and create a brighter future will feature recognition awards for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service in various sectors, including politics, public service, business, religion, health and wellness, community service, media, education, and more.
Notable honorees include Cong. Joyce Beatty, Rev. Leon Troy Sr., Rep. Dontavius Jarrells, and Dr. Fredric Bertley, among others.
The evening will be hosted by WCMH-TV News Anchor Cierra Johnson, with Kenneth Wilson, County Administrator for Franklin County Board of Commissioners, serving as Event Chairman.
Guests can expect an inspiring program, a delicious dinner, and the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals dedicated to making a difference in the community.
Proceeds from the event will benefit People Like Me Project, Inc., a community-based organization that provides prevention services to youth, adults, and communities in need. By supporting this event, attendees will not only honor the legacy of African American leaders but also contribute to the continued success and growth of programs that positively impact the lives of individuals and families in Central Ohio.
