Columbus-Ohio based artist and illustrator Samuel Adebuga celebrated 70th birthday in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, July 13, 2022, at the Gleenwood Suites by Hilton, Columbus Easton.
The septuagenarian who has exhibited his paintings at the John Glenn International Airport, Columbus at the Gateway Gallery, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and many other places in and around Ohio hosted families and friends to the birthday celebration.
His works were part of the 100 works on display at the Ohio League Spring Juried Exhibition in May.
The Nigerian-born artist draws from a successful career in graphic design and editorial illustration experience during his days at the Punch and Concord Newspapers in Lagos, Nigeria.
He once described his as paintings as “largely autobiographical, an acute observation of constant transformation of everything that life dictates in society at large.”
“The process is self-revealing. I used it to investigate, explore, manipulate, and ultimately celebrate the way in which I see, in which we perceive things.”
Seeing the medium as a window, Sam Adebuga had said, “this becomes an uninterrupted exchange of one’s thought – a window to the world. The combination of painterly, conceptual, and poetic maneuvering is what shapes my processes.”
It is his “testament of recollection in the contemporary setting.”
