The Columbus, Ohio-based Druk Shito Kai has won four gold and two bronze medals at the recently concluded Toronto Open International Championship in Canada, with two accompanying referees from Columbus winning recognition awards for their invaluable performance.
Subha Bhandari won gold in 15,16 advance, while Anuj Dhakal, Subham Bhandari, and Sujay Bhandari won gold in team kata.
Anuj Dhakal won two bronze medals in kata and kumite.
The Ontario Karate Federation honored two referees Maya Lepcha and Tula Dhakal, head referees of Columbus Druk Shito Kai for their officiating excellence at the end of the event.
Druk Shito Kai Canada coach Dumpa Thapa said the referees were honored, “in recognition of your invaluable contribution to the success of the Toronto Open 2024 as a referee, your expertise, impartiality and dedication ensure the integrity of the competition and inspire future generations and thank you for your commitment and service.”
Four referees from Druk Sito Kai participated in the Toronto Open (International Championship 2024), including Dumpa Thapa, Maya Lepcha, Tula Dhakal and Joe Ontario.
