An Online Kata Championship 2024 organized by Druk Shitokai on Saturday, March 16, 2024 attracted 127 athletes from nine different karate clubs that cutting across five states in the United States of America and two provinces of Canada.
“The new technique of historical kata by Druk Shitokai is a testament to the spirit of unity and excellence within the karate community,’ said Sensei Bimal Magar.
“A total of 50 categories were included in this championship, including one in operations, two in logistics and ten officials led by US NKF referee and judge AA and official head of Druk Shito Kai, Sensei Maya Lepcha.”
Sensei Bimal Magar said that the cooperative efforts of all the participants ensured the smooth execution of the competition and fostered a sense of mutual harmony among the participants.
“Druk Shito Kai emphasizes the importance of working together to promote the growth and development of karate, focusing on unity and collaboration with other dojos,” according to Druk Shito Kai spokesperson Madan Rai.
“The organization’s commitment to a smart culture, with an emphasis on sustainability, motivation, achievement, respect, and trust, form a strong foundation for future endeavors and partnerships. In the same way, the success of the program would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of all the officials who spent their time and expertise,” said Sensei Raj Magar, of the logistics unit.
Senpai Deepen Adhikari from Louisville Dojo said that the championship was concluded in an excellent and fair manner.
Officials at the Druk Shito Kai champiohship included Senseis Maya Lepcha, Bhim Thapa, Denny Tamang, Bishal Gurung, Hari Sivakoti, Tek Rai, Kamal Thapa, Santa Rai, and Tula Dhakal.
Others were Dumpa Thapa in operations, Raj Magar and Mani Rai in logistics. Sensei Yadu Kuikel andSenei Nim Lama paticpated as dojo coach.
The Druk Open Kata Championship 2024 featured the Fargo Karate Club, United Shito Ryu Karate, Ohio Karate Club, Druk Shitokai Golf Dojo, Task Lex Dojo, Task Louisville Dojo, Lethbridge Dojo, Georgia Dojo and Diska Carlisle Karate dojo.
In the Druk Open, Fargo Karate Club won the first position with United Shito Ryu Karate and Ohio Karate Club in the second and third position.
