The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has congratulated the people of Bhutan on the celebration of the National Day of the Kingdom of Bhutan on December 17.
“The peoples of our two countries share a history of warm friendship and a commitment to building a world that is more peaceful, prosperous, and equitable. The United States looks forward to continuing to strengthen the ties between our peoples and to working together to address shared challenges, such as climate change,” said Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“On behalf of the people and the Government of the United States of America, I warmly extend best wishes to the people of Bhutan as they celebrate this special occasion.”
Bhutan became a member of the United Nations in 1971. Bhutan does not have diplomatic relations with any of the permanent members of the UN Security Council, including the United States. Meanwhile, Bhutan’s news agency’s reports that the King of Bhutan has announced that he will expand the country’s railway project with India.
This ambitious infrastructure initiative aims to connect Gelefu in Bhutan with Kokrajhar in Assam through a rail link, marking an important milestone in diplomatic and economic relations between the two neighboring nations.
According to the agency’s reports, King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck of Bhutan highlighted the groundbreaking railway project to build the first rail link between Bhutan and India in his National Day address.
