Teli-Flenjos, a musical production by Nigerian-born Joel Ijejeme debuted recently on New York City Community television, Queens Public Television, QPTV.
“I am excited for the opportunity given me to be a producer on such international platform in one of the biggest cities in the world,” said Joel Ijejeme, former staff of the Nigerian Television Authority, and some other private television stations in Nigeria.
“I give thanks to almighty God for the opportunity. I wasn’t expecting it and maybe it has to do with the good job I have been doing producing Teli-Flenjos on YouTube and other social media platforms,” Joel told the New Americans magazine.
Joel said he created TELI-FLENJOS, a Christian musical compilation on Facebook, and YouTube to express his professional training and actualize his desire to return to the television after leaving Nigeria.
“I believe New York is the right place to express my creativity,” said Joel.
Joel who was also a pioneering staff of then Clapperboard Television and then MITV became a private producer with programs running in several television stations in Nigeria. He also published a tourism magazine called Leisure News.
QPTV has a long standing history of serving the community. In 1982 QPTV made its entrance on the national stage of community television. Since inception QPTV has trained thousands of residents and cablecast over 90,000 programs. QPTV continues to be a leader in community television in New York. For over 30 years QPTV has advocated and supported media “of the people, by the people, for the people.”
Queens, New York is the most diverse community in the world. Over two hundred languages and dialects are spoken in Queens, New York. Every race, creed, culture, religion, and political point of view can be found, not only in the community, but also on the other four channels.
