“Our job is to help folks in our community build their wealth,” Jordan Miller, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Adelphi Bank told the New Americans magazine at the opening of the black owned bank in King Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood on 800 East Long Street, Columbus, Ohio Monday, May 1, 2023.
The event was witnessed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, Congresswoman Joyce Beaty, Mayor Andrew Ginther, business and community leaders.
“We’re excited about it. It is significant. There have been black owned banks here before. Our name was taken from a building, savings and loan company that was here in 1921.
“They went out of business sometime around the Great Depression, and we’re here to finish the mission. So, we named our name after them. We’re in the same spot that they once occupied back in 1921.”
Jordan Miller said the job of Alphiphi Bank “is to is to help folks in our community build their wealth,” adding that there are opportunities for “business owners, mortgage, auto loan, any kind of business loan.”
“If they want to do commercial real estate, if they just want to work the capital line of credit term loans, those are real opportunities.”
According to him, “the real opportunity they have is to sit down with a banker that will listen to them and understand their situation and show them a path of how they can get there.”
“It’s not automatic that everybody can do everything right, but they can when we plan. Then they can execute that plan. We can help them do what they want.”
On the board members, Jordan Miller “the number one thing, we got a great board, and we got a great staff. Our board is made up of very high powered community members that are very popular; that they will keep the rails on the straight and keep the vision out there for us.”
“And then we’ve got a team of people, a team of really experienced bankers. Our executive team alone has over 185 years of banking experience. We worked with all the major banks all over the place, and they’re here.”
He added that “they helped us get this started, and they’re really excited. And we are excited by what they bring because they’re the ones that really are going to be on the front line helping our customers build their wealth.”
