Reynoldsburg holds swearing-in ceremony for 4 City Council and School Board members

Posted by: New Americans Magazine , December 20, 2021

By Jessie Dingess

Reaching another milestone, the City of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Mayor Joe Begeny celebrated the swearing-in ceremony of four new and reelected city officials.

Reelected City Council members Stacy Baker and Kristin Bryant with newly elected school board members Angela Abrams and Julie Towns were sworn into office by the Honorable Congresswoman Joyce Beatty at Reynoldsburg City Hall on December 18th, 2021.

Councilmember Kristin Bryant also holds a position as an assistant prosecuting attorney at Franklin County’s Prosecutors G. Gary Tyak and is owner/attorney at Bryant Law office, LLC.

Stacy Baker, councilmember, also holds a position within the Franklin County Treasures Office. Anglea Abrams, a newly elected school board official who works diligently within the City of Reynoldsburg, currently is licensed by the Ohio Occupational Therapy Board and The Ohio Department of Education. Newly elected school board member Julie Towns, an elementary teacher of 20 years, looks to become a catalyst for change with a background in several leadership committees and community organizations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Friends and family were in attendant to support all the candidates that were sworn in.

Candidates shared their thoughts on such a highlighted moment in their lives:

Stacy Baker – First, I would like to thank everyone for coming out to our swearing-in ceremony. This was very much appreciated. Also, I would like to thank Congresswoman Joyce Beatty for administering the oath of office to me, my fellow Councilmember Kistin Bryant, and the newly elected school board members Angela Abram and Julie Towns. As I begin my second term on Reynoldsburg city council, I am excited for this opportunity the citizens of Reynoldsburg thrusted on me to continue my work that will help keep the City of Reynoldsburg moving forward.

Kristin Bryant – I’m looking forward to continuing to represent Reynoldsburg. I sought re-election because I had unfinished business that I wanted to see through. I look forward to continuing to serve alongside Councilmember Baker and the rest of our elected officials as we strive to make Reynoldsburg the best place to live, work, and play in Central Ohio.

Angela Abram – It was an honor and a privilege to be sworn in by the Honorable Congresswoman Joyce Beatty. I look forward to continuing the work of Reynoldsburg School District.

Julie Towns – Being sworn in by my Congresswoman, Joyce Beatty, with my Reynoldsburg family by my side has been one of my greatest joys. I felt so proud to be standing with fellow elected officials Angela Abram, Kristin Bryant, and Stacie Baker. I am both excited and honored to serve on the Reynoldsburg City School Board.
