Posted by: New Americans Magazine , May 18, 2021

Ohio covid19 vaccination incentive for Ohioans to win scholarship or up to $1 million, Vax-a-Million has recorded over 25 million page views and more than 60,000 calls to the Ohio Department of Health call center on frist day of the five-week event.

“This is a unique, innovative way to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations, and we are pleased to see so much activity today,” said Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud.

In an effort to increase the number of Ohioans who currently have not taken a COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated, Governor Mike DeWine announced a series of statewide drawings to help incentivize vaccinations.

Ohioans under the age of 18 who are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine will be entered into a drawing for a four-year full scholarship to any of Ohio’s state colleges and universities, including full tuition, room, and board.

Ohioans aged 18 and older will be entered into a weekly drawing with a prize of up to $1 million.

A total of five weekly drawings for each prize will take place, with the first winners being announced on May 26th. Winners must have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by the date of the respective drawing.

Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud said that “In addition, we are seeing early indicators of increased uptake after the Vax-a-Million announcement last week, and will continue to monitor this moving forward.”

By 4:30 p.m., more than 60,000 calls had come into the Ohio Department of Health call center, ohiovaxamillion.com had more than 25 million page views, and hundreds of thousands of Ohioans had entered the drawing.

For security purposes, the official number of entries will not be released until Monday after the draw period closes and the verification and de-duplication process is complete.

“We are thrilled to see so much excitement for the Ohio Vax-a-Million drawings,” said Ohio Lottery Director Pat McDonald.

“The odds of winning are the same whether you visit ohiovaxamillion.com or call the ODH call center. It is quick and easy to register online for your chance to win Ohio Vax-a-Million. Remember, it’s one entry per person and once you’ve entered you’re in for all five weeks!”
