5k Walk With Water for Africa holds July 6 in Columbus
A 5k “Walk with Water for Africa” will hold in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Park of Roses Shelter House located at 3901 N High Street, Columbus beginning from 1pm.
The Executive Director of Rosshirt Water for Africa Foundation, Tim Rosshirt said the “Walk With Water for Africa 5k is endeavored to raise awareness and funds for our efforts in Zimbabwe.
“Since 2009, the Rosshirt Water for Africa Foundation has provided clean and accessible water to the people of Zimbabwe through the drilling and routine maintenance of deep wells.
“Over the last decade the foundation has made it possible for 10 wells to be built and regulated, accommodating over 25,000 people every day,” Tim said.
According to Tim Rosshirt, “Walk With Water challenges participants to carry a 22-liter jerry-can (filled or unfilled with water) on a 3-mile trek, mimicking the unfortunate reality of millions of people across Africa.
He said that “millions of Zimbabweans walk an average of 4 – 6 miles every day in search of a water source for their family. What they find is often contaminated with animal and human waste, germs and disease such as dysentery and cholera”.
