The Talking Drums Project, in collaboration with Cocoa and Company will present a cultural event tagged “Music that Inspires,” using music to explore powerful storytelling through the sounds of Ghanaian drums on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Columbus Museum of Art, 450, East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. Gate will be open from 11am till 9pm.
Spokesperson for Talking Drums Project, Stella Kessie Asare told TheNewAmericans that “Osei Korakye, ‘Master of Seperewa’ will present a cultural engagement of fun through sounds of drums and movement of exciting dance from Ghana, West Africa.”
Music and dance are part of everyday life in Ghana, and can be heard and seen everywhere. While the style may differ between north and south, traditional music comprising of singing, clapping, drumming and dance are ritualized events occurring at all forms of celebrations, festivals, weddings and funerals.
At festivals and celebrations the music and dance will be a social ritual that tells a story or re-enacts an event of historical significance to the tribe.
