Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has launched an expanded “Ready for November” initiative, a nationally recognized statewide effort to train and prepare election officials for the 2026 November General Election.
“Ohio’s election officials have earned a national reputation for excellence because they never stop preparing,” said Secretary LaRose.
“Election Day is a no-fail mission, and this initiative ensures that across the state our team has the training, tools, and support they need to deliver an accessible and secure election for the people of Ohio.”
Building on operational successes and shortcomings gathered from each election since 2020 and 2024, the 2026 Ready for November initiative will provide election officials with a series of training opportunities and resources featuring staff from the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office and Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections.
Ready for November includes:
- Regional Readiness Seminars that bring election officials together from across Ohio to review election procedures, strengthen coordination, share proven best practices, and exercise disaster preparedness plans ahead of Election Day.
- Ohio Tabletop the Vote, virtual cybersecurity exercises are conducted with Boards of Elections and IT staff to enhance cybersecurity incident response plans.
- Law Enforcement and Homeland Security Briefings that reinforce partnerships and enhance coordination among local, state, and federal agencies to support a secure and well-prepared election.
- The Ohio Election Readiness Training Institute, launched in December 2025, provides advanced, interactive learning resources and expanded professional development opportunities to ensure election officials and workers are equipped for every stage of election administration.
- EVA, an AI-powered election administration assistant that provides election officials with immediate access to guidance, procedures, training materials, and trusted resources to support informed decision-making.
- After Action Reviews that assess election administration performance, capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to strengthen readiness and improve future election operations.
“The military taught me you don’t rise to the occasion, you fall back on your training,” said Secretary LaRose.
“That’s why we’re preparing now. Every training, every exercise, and every lesson learned helps ensure Ohio’s election officials are ready to deliver a secure, convenient, and trusted election for every voter.”
