With continued support from the City of Columbus, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce has announced the successful completion of its Fall Small Business Accelerator Program, marking the initiative’s fourth year of empowering local entrepreneurs. The program launched on August 26 and welcomed 32 business owners committed to strengthening and expanding their ventures.
Participants were organized into two tailored cohorts based on time in operation and business needs. Over 16 weeks, entrepreneurs engaged in eight bi-weekly sessions hosted at the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Main Branch. Led by Abiona Harper, the curriculum explored essential topics including organizational management, operational efficiency, funding strategies, and purposeful networking and relationship development.
This year’s Accelerator introduced a new capstone: the creation of a complete business plan – including financials – designed to prepare participants for future capital access opportunities. This component was directed by Tyrone Martin, Founder and Managing Partner of Nitram Partnering Group.

The program also awarded two $1,000 mini-grants, reinforcing the City and Chamber’s commitment to reducing barriers and expanding access to business education and support. Graduates additionally received complimentary professional headshots from Toi Tucker Photography to help elevate their brand presence.
The graduation celebration, held November 12, brought both cohorts together for the first time in a joint ceremony. Columbus City Councilmember Nick Bankston delivered congratulatory remarks, and Columbus Chamber President and CEO Derrick R. Clay offered opening comments recognizing the achievements of the class. The event concluded with a high-energy reception filled with meaningful connections and future-focused conversations.
“What inspires me most about this program is watching entrepreneurs gain clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose,” said Abiona Harper, Programming & Membership Specialist.
“Every participant came in with a vision, and over these 16 weeks, they transformed those ideas into actionable plans that will move their businesses forward. It is an honor to walk alongside them on this journey.”
“The success of this program reflects the strength, resilience, and innovation of our small business community,” said Clay.
“We are honored to support these entrepreneurs as they take the next steps in growing their businesses and contributing to the prosperity of the Columbus Region.”
The Columbus Chamber and its partners look forward to launching another series of Accelerator cohorts in 2026. The Columbus Chamber remains steadfast in cultivating a thriving, inclusive business ecosystem and supporting owners at every stage of their journey.
