The 2024 Ohio State Fair kicked off on Wednesday, July 24, and will run until Sunday, August 4. Governor DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Husted attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and it also marked the beginning of a new era under Executive Director Adam Heffron.
Governor DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine visited the science building, highlighting exhibits like Intel, COSI, Battelle, and NASA, showcasing Ohio’s technological advancements, innovation, and education. This effort underscores the state’s commitment to making the fair an all-around experience for visitors of all ages.
“One particularly exciting thing about this year’s State Fair is that we’re on the path toward progress. We have several construction projects underway that will enhance the fairgrounds for the future, both for the fair and the events held here the other 353 days a year,” explained Governor DeWine.
Afterward, Governor DeWine embarked on a stroll along the main street of the fairgrounds, taking in the sights and sounds of the vibrant atmosphere. During his walk, the Governor made a sweet stop at a cookie vendor, indulging in one of their freshly baked treats and exchanging warm smiles with fairgoers. He also visited the iconic Schmidt’s German Village booth, where he savored one of their renowned desserts and conversed with the manager’s son.
During these impromptu moments, Governor DeWine had the chance to connect with the fairgoers, showcasing his approachable and down-to-earth nature. As he mingled with fairgoers and vendors, he demonstrated his commitment to supporting local businesses and enjoying the simple pleasures of the Ohio State Fair.
