Politics gone too far!
In the land of the free and the home of the brave, Saturday, July 13th tragedy of shooting at President Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania was a cowardly act and put a dent in our democracy.
Violence has no place in our democracy! In the strongest democracy in the world. We all need to stand taller and stronger together during such acts of hate and condemn them as this is not what defines us as Americans nor as responsible citizens of a free world. We all can agree to disagree but our focus at all times should be value-add service for all Americans.
We need to bring back civility in our conversations, tolerance in our social aptitudes and statesmen-ship in our politics. The divides of red and blue lines are healthy when its sole purpose is for comprehensive national interest not when it’s trenching gulfs among our own-selves and toxicity in our own homes!
We have gone too far in our political tangents and our nation needs some very intentional fine tuning and self-reflecting moments along with some meaningful coarse correction. Our nation needs healing, and the only way forward is through the promotion of collaborative willingness, cordiality and mutual respect at all levels. We are all Americans first and then Democrats and Republicans!
And my fellow brothers and sisters —America is bigger than any one of us! Again, the party division and politics should remain in the spectrums of heathy competition which should result on deliverables as a gain for all Americans at all times — economically, socially and morally!
Let’s all commit that we will not let hate of any sort to flow into our work in lines of civic or social engagements. Every life is precious and sacred, attack on one is attack on all of us. We are 350+ million strong one big family that’s diverse and talented and unique in many ways and forms when compared to its resources and willfulness. We may agree, disagree and debate among ourselves but we cannot become vengeful and assaulters of each other’s wealth, freedoms, life and liberties.
We stand stronger together as communities of multi traditions and multifaith and as a nation, that’s formed by immigrants and emigrants from all seven corners of the world.
God bless America and May we all become agents of positive change for now and always, that carries our democracy to grow and flourish on pathways to eternity! (Imran Malik, cofounder — Safe Alliances of Interfaith Leaders (SAIL) and Abraham’s Tent)
