On a bright and beautiful Saturday, June 1, the Hilton Columbus at Easton was abuzz with excitement as the 2024 Global Somali Awards took place. It was a night to celebrate the achievements and successes of the Somali community worldwide and honor the influential leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators who have made a significant impact.

The awards aimed to bring together the diverse and talented individuals of the Somali community, promote unity, and showcase their positive impact on their communities and the world. According to the organizers, it was indeed a memorable night, with the presentation of 20 awards and several certificates of recognition for exceptional contributions and around 500 attendees, including esteemed guests and high-ranking officials.

“I’m at a loss for words at the moment to describe last night, but here’s a picture until I find the right words to capture my joy and excitement,” Ifrah Udgoon of Columbus said.

The Global Somali Awards celebrated individuals’ accomplishments and exhibited Somalia’s vibrant culture and traditions. The event featured traditional Somali attire with its colorful patterns, delectable cuisine, lively cultural performances, and music, offering guests an immersive experience of the beauty and vibrancy of Somali culture.

The awards ceremony itself was a testament to the talent and success of the Somali community. The winners represented diverse industries and accomplishments, from business and entrepreneurship to arts and entertainment. It was a true celebration of excellence and a demonstration of the great potential within the Somali community.

As the night came to a close, it was clear that the Global Somali Awards had achieved its goal of bringing together Somalis from all walks of life to celebrate their achievements and inspire future generations.
