Ohio-based Sunshine Taekwondo Academy will continue to engage with the community, alongside creating a platform for students to learn taekwondo.

The five years old academy, set up in 2019 is a story of determination, skill, and community spirit, according to Taekwondo Master Kaushila Karmachary who coordinates affairs at the academy.

“Their commitment to personal growth is mirrored in their dedication to helping others grow, evident in the four locations of Sunshine Taekwondo Academy.”

Participating in events like the AAU Ohio Taekwondo State Championship with 35 students showcases the academy’s dedication to excellence. The achievement of the students, including black belt students RB Khadka and Ishan Karmacharya, and the selection of 23 color belt students for the National qualifier, speaks volumes about the quality of training provided.

“Being honored as a big supporting team in the tournament is a testament to the positive impact Sunshine Taekwondo Academy has on the taekwondo community.”

With a 5th Dan black belt, Sunshine Taekwondo Academy coordinator Master Karmacharya has not only achieved mastery in taekwondo but has also pursued other passions such as writing lyrics and pursuing a PhD. The journey from being a Bhutanese refugee to establishing self in the USA is truly inspiring. 

Master Karmacharya acknowledged the contributions of instructors like Assistant Master Som Acharya, Binod Gurung, Instructor Sarita Basnet, RB Khadka, Kamal Bhujel, Nirmal Khanal, Birkha Subba, and Radhika Subedi, Hem Acharya, while expressing gratitude to parents, hardworking students, and supporters, reflects Master Karmacharya’s humility and appreciation for teamwork.

Master Karmacharya’s dedication to promoting taekwondo at national and international levels, along with the commitment to community service, makes the Master a true leader both on and off the mat.
