Nepali in diaspora based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States recently came together to read, review and comment on the recently published book, Left-Right: Satta and Shakti’s ‘Unpolitics’ authored by Journalist Netra Panthi.
The event, which was organized by Triveni Sahitya Manch and NRNA Pennsylvania Chapter, reviewed the last election in Nepal which formed the basis of the book and political activities by the politicians and the people of Nepal.
“’This work is not only a work but a great book in the history of Nepal,” said one of the discussants, also a writer and journalist Bhakt Dhimire.
Another contributor, Gokul Shrestha, described the book as “a mirror that shows the misdeeds committed by the political parties of Nepal”.
Keshab Bairagi, the president of Triveni Sahitya Mancha, said that he felt “the smell of Nepali soil on his hands while reading the book”.
“Even now, the smell of Nepali soil is still coming, and Netra Panthi has expressed the opinion that one can never stop loving Nepal.”
“In the same way, the fear of the media among the leaders has ended to a large extent. In the book, an attempt has been made to reveal the unfortunate bitter truth of the Nepali political leadership, which sometimes turns to the right and sometimes to the left.”
Joining the discussion group from his base, Netra Panthi, the author and also a journalist, said it took four long years to publish the book.
About the book
The book revealed the dramatic developments in the power equation after last year’s elections and the secret meetings and deals that took place behind the scenes. The book also contains stories of intrigues and deceptions for power and authority. In order to get the position, the top leaders of the major parties ignore the policies, rules, ethics, values, principles, questions, arrangements, laws, constitution, and provisions in the book.
