Bakaro International grocery store has opened to the public in Columbus Square, on E Dublin Granville and Cleveland Avenue, north side of the city.
The opening of Bakaro which in Somali language means an underground storage for farm products attracted state, city and community leaders, including Representatives Adam Miller, Munira Abdullahi, Ismail Mohamed, Council member Nick Bankston, Somali Associations Community Executive Director Omar Hassan, New American Leadership Academy Coordinator Abdi Soofe and Ohio immigration Attorney Inna Simakovsky.
“The Somali community has been contributing to the economic growth of central Ohio for over two decades. It is hoped that more businesses will follow the opening of Bakaro store. We appreciate the city and Ohio state for the support,” said Omar Hassan.
Also, NALA Coordinator Abdi Soofe said opening of the store showed “faith, family and hard work” on the part of the team behind it.
