On Thursday, September 21st, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Columbus Commons was the site of an ambitious attempt – the world’s largest sound bath and a city-wide meditation at the Columbus Commons. It is part of the International Day of Peace.
The event featured a live performance by several renowned sound healing artists to provide a peaceful and calming experience for those in attendance. Participants will be encouraged to bring their yoga mats and blankets to enjoy the sound bath fully.
What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a healing therapy that uses sound frequencies to create an environment of relaxation and well-being. During the “sound” bath, the practitioner uses a variety of instruments, such as drums, gongs, singing bowls, and other instruments, to create a soothing atmosphere. The sound vibrations the instruments create are directed to the body to help reduce stress and tension, allowing one to enter a deeper state of relaxation and meditation.
Why attend?
People who attend the sound bath at Columbus Commons will have the opportunity to meditate, connect with nature, and experience the healing power of sound. Participants can also enjoy the commons’ calming atmosphere and the environment’s beauty.
Also, the event will benefit the refugee and immigrant community by providing a safe and welcoming space to relax and connect with their spiritual selves. Sound baths can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mental clarity, and promote feelings of overall well-being. Furthermore, sound baths can also help create a sense of community and connection between individuals, allowing them to open up and share experiences.
City-wide Meditation
City-wide meditation is vital to promote a sense of peace and connection in a community. It can help to reduce stress levels, improve mental health, and foster a sense of unity in the city. It can also create an environment of acceptance and understanding among its citizens, encouraging them to work together for the greater good of the community.
What to bring
When attending a sound bath gathering, it is essential to bring items such as comfortable clothing, a yoga mat, a blanket, and a pillow for comfort. Getting an eye mask and earplugs to relax further and block out external distractions is also beneficial. Lastly, bringing an open mind and heart is vital to take advantage of the sound bath experience.
The atmosphere at Columbus Commons is always vibrant and lively. The park is filled with diverse people enjoying many activities, such as concerts, festivals, farmers markets, and outdoor movies. The park is also home to various eateries and shops, making it a great place to relax, have fun, and host this year’s World’s Largest Sound Bath and city-wide Meditation.
