Council President Pro Tem Rob Dorans, Chair of the Building and Zoning Policy Committee, hosted a public hearing at the Gillie Community Center on Morse Road, Columbus to hear updates on the progress of the Zone In initiative, including the identification of policy priorities based on research and community input.
“Zone In Columbus is a comprehensive effort to update our current zoning code,” said Councilmember Rob Dorans.
“Zoning codes are a set of rules that regulate what can and can’t be done on a particular piece of property. Zoning codes influence where we live, where we work and how we get around.”
City Council President Shannon Hardin assured at the meeting that legislation on the zoning codes will be passed early 2024.
The current code has not been comprehensively updated in 70 years.
