Central Ohio multicultural and interfaith community leader and Interfaith director at Noor Islamic Cultural Center Imran Malik has won the Upstander Award of the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Imran Malik was honored for regularly activating interfaith network for collective impact.
“For example, after the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburg, Imran led a delegation of Muslim leaders in his community to stand in solidarity with Jewish community,” said the Upstander Weekend Awards.
The Upstander Awards recognize individuals in the region who use their character strengths to make a difference in the community.
The event is part of the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center’s Cincinnati Upstander Weekend, which celebrates and uplifts the changemakers in our community.
“I am humbled with gratitude and humility of being honored with the — Michael A. Meyer Award for Spirituality 2023 for Ohio,” said Imran Malik, Director of the Noor Islamic Cultural Center, Hilliard, Ohio.
“My family and I consider ourselves so blessed to have the love and support of such loving, caring, and supportive communities of Central Ohio and beyond.
“Thank you to the Cohen Family and the leadership team of Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center for the wonderful awards event to recognize and honor the work of so many of similar passioned and visioned leaders from all over Midwest.
He described it “simply an honor to be in the presence of so many wonderful leaders who are value-added catalysts in making our communities and world tranquil and prosperous for all with a step forward every day the sun shines.”
Last year, Imran Malik, along with Dan Cark and Edith Espinal were announced as winners of the Alvin R. Hadley Social Justice Award 2022 by the Living Faith Awards Foundation for exemplary work in the field of social justice.
He is founder of Safe Alliances of Interfaith Leaders (SAIL) and Abraham’s Tent which are grass root level service oriented interfaith non profits that ambassador the work of bridge building, ecumenism and multiculturalism in Central Ohio and beyond.
