The Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services, ETSS will celebrate the World Refugee Day on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the West Plaza of the Ohio Statehouse, Columbus from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
“This will be a great celebration of refugees that make a difference in our everyday lives here in Columbus,” said Dr Seleshi Asfaw, President and CEO of ETSS.
“Key guests will highlight their stories in compelling and informative ways. Hear from state, city, and county representatives, as well as refugees from Afghanistan, Nepal, and Somalia who are making Columbus a better place to live for all of us.”
Dr. Seleshi Asfaw, said “I am honored and humbled to celebrate the 2023 World Refugee Day here at the Ohio State House at this historical moment where ETSS becomes a resettlement agency in Ohio, after serving the immigrant and refugee community here for almost 20 years.”

Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services (ETSS) is a Columbus based non-profit organization that provides services to New Americans and other low-income groups to help facilitate their integration into mainstream American society through employment, ESOL, domestic violence awareness, youth development programs, services coordination, case management, civic forums, and other supportive services.
In 2022 ETSS became an official resettlement agency, through partnership with LIRS and PRM, resettling over 100 individuals from Afghanistan. ETSS is now resettling refugees from countries across the world.
Over the past 18 years, ETSS has been the focal point of integration for thousands of people from over 60 countries around the world and now has 19 sites for providing its services.
