Nigerians in Columbus, Ohio will celebrate the country’s 62nd Independence Day at the OSDAA Auditorium in Westerville Ohio on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

“This is an opportunity for Nigerians to come together irrespective of tribe, religion, ethnicity, age, or belief” said the President of the Nigerians in the Diaspora in Ohio, Bukola Olaoye.
“We come together as ONE! Although we are not where we want to be, we have about 10 ethnic groups in central Ohio that have come together in planning and execution this year. This is just a tip of the iceberg on what Nigerians can do when they come together in one voice – as one people!”
He said that “this year, we have a few vendors that will display the Nigerian heritage/food/culture, professionals as they share their expertise, good music, and entertainment in a relaxed environment.”
In anticipation for the next celebration, Bukola Olaoye said “we are looking to partner with many more organizations, vendors, City of Columbus, Franklin County, State of Ohio, and other communities in future celebrations.”
“We also want there to be activities that will cater for the entire family unit.”
He expressed appreciation to “all our advertorial sponsors in this year’s brochure which is a direct benefit for the event, thank you to OSDAA that has held this venue down for our event for the past 2 years, thank you to everyone and we look forward to greater partnership next year.”
