When Cookware matters

Posted by: New Americans Magazine , September 3, 2022

By Okon Ekpenyong

Several cooking classes are available that teach the basics of healthy eating and the most complex cooking recipes on the market. They might also discuss how important it is to purchase the right cookware because the better the quality, the less likely the pot will break, the handles will not jiggle as much, and the cookware will balance better.

To learn more about the combination of both, I visited Amazing Enterprise LLC, an authorized Saladmaster in Houston, and spoke to some Salad Master owners and cooking coaches.

Filipino-American Naomi and her late Husband, Jonathan Policarpio, became the owners of Salad Master products and fell in love with them. The cookware was high quality, came with a recipe handbook, and promoted healthy eating. Although both had successful prospective professional careers, founding Amazing Enterprise and becoming a Saladmaster dealer in Troy, Michigan, changed their lives forever.

Saladmaster:

Saladmaster has been operating for seventy-five years, and they promote waterless cooking. “If you eat right, and you prepare your food right, you have a much better chance of having good health,” Harry Lemon, the company’s founder, said.

They make their cookware from stainless steel 316Ti to protect the flavor and purity of the ingredients, making it healthier, more nutritious, and more delicious each time you use it, according to the company website.

Their products are waterless, promoting cooking methods that use low temperatures, use less water, and encourage their users to use little or no added fat when preparing a meal. The company started only producing food processors, but after two years, it expanded to various cookware collections. It is now a global company, having reached over fifty countries worldwide.

When using the products, Cooking medium heat is the preferred requirement. “Scientifically, you want the temperature inside of the pot to be about 187 degrees, destroying the bacteria in the food but preserving the nutrients. Knowing the temperature helps regulate the heat and helps prevent destroying the nutrients of whatever it is you are making, “Vivien Azike Akubue said.

Although it is high quality, consumers say it is the most expensive brand in the market. However, Salad Master owners say it’s more than just cookware; it is investing in one’s lifestyle.

The company provides free cooking classes and encourages its customers to spread the word about their experiences to others. Unfortunately, one can not purchase their products from the store or Amazon. The company only sells products through direct sales methods.

“The best way for a consumer to get the best satisfaction from Salad Master products is through virtual or in-person demonstrations. It is not ordinally cookware; it is economically. It pays for itself over and over again. In a home presentation, the demonstrator discusses the products’ features, health benefits, and safety,” Noami said.

New Americans Community:

Vivien Azike Akubue: We must save our community; many people are suffering from preventable lifestyle diseases if they only knew about Salad Master. Food is your medicine, you are what you eat, and at the end of the day, we must go back to what’s essential, changing what goes on in your kitchen. Change that narrative in your kitchen and control the outcome.

Health Benefits:

Noami: Change your cookware, change your life is the motto of what we do here. I’ve attended a health nutrients conference, but they don’t discuss the importance of having the right cookware. They don’t talk about how to retain. We try to educate consumers that it is easy to destroy some of the nutrients when they are cooking.

Lifetime Investment:

Vivien Azike Akubue: Salad Masters is a lifetime investment; you get the dealership, exclusive membership to all cooking classes for life, and cooking coaches. By attending cooking seminars, consumers also have the opportunity to win additional appliances. Another benefit is receiving a complete cooking system, for example, baking, cooking, meal preparation, serving, and storage.

Social Media & Community services:

Word of mouth is a common way that Salad Master gets out to the public. The company also uses Social Media platforms for marketing, like Eventbrite and Facebook, for example, and organizing community cooking classes, which helps get the word out. Users of Salad Masters, I would say, drive a consumer to want to know more after using the product in their homes, and friends and families become engaged.

Amazing Enterprise:

“AE was built on a dream, a dream to make life better not only for ourselves but for other people,” Naomi said. Policarpio’s “Amazing Enterprise” now has several offices throughout the United States, including its Houston location.

Sadly, with her husband’s passing in 2015, Jenica, the couple’s oldest daughter, joined her mother on the quest to take their vision to a new height, and so far, it has worked. The family is originally from the Philippines but has been residents of the United States for decades. “One of the unique things about Amazing Enterprise is that they offer cooking classes and cooking school, which one can attend virtually or in person,” Jenica said.

Vivien Azike Akubue is a Nigerian-American who started her professional career as a nurse as Naomi did. Now they both work side by side promoting Amazing Enterprise and Salad Master.
