The New American Leadership Academy, (NALA) has graduated over 90 emerging leaders since its commencement in 2018,, as application for the Leadership Academy 2022 Cohort will close on Friday October 29, 2021.
The leadership academy, which is the signature program of the New American Initiative within the City of Columbus, Ohio Department of Neighborhoods is a unique leadership and professional development program focusing on civic engagement for the New American residents in Columbus, Ohio.
Since 2018, the program has evolved into an 8-month experience designed to equip participants with the skills needed to empower their communities in a culturally appropriate manner and become influential and active leaders.
The program consists of an opening reception, retreat, facilitated program sessions, and a community impact service project.
“The Academy selects individuals who are ready to grow and enhance their knowledge of civic engagement, community stewardship, leadership, and discover new ways to contribute to our community,” according to a statement from the department of Neighborhood.
“Through mentorship and professional development, participants hone their talents and leadership skills, resulting in a unique class of professionals who are ready to address the challenges facing our communities.”
“To be considered for the academy, eligible new American candidates must apply online at https://www.Columbus.gov/Nala. Applicants must include a resume and headshot in their applications. An independent review committee will make the final selections.”
