Ohio has approved 951 requests for K – 12 Broadband Connectivity Grant from the CARES Act funding towards helping students gain internet access, with over 645,000 students expected to have new public places to access internet.
“Over 121,000 students will gain high speed internet in their homes because of the devices provided by the grant,” said Lt. Governor Jon Husted during the Covid19 weekly update with Governor Mike DeWine.
“645,000 will now have a place to go to access the internet through the creation of new public Wi-Fi and mobile Wi-Fi space.”
Meanwhile, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has appealed to Ohioans to stay safe this weekend for coming up Labor Day on Monday 7, 2020.
“COVID19 still represents a big risk, and we can’t ignore that risk,” said Governor Mike DeWine.
“Remember, in the weeks after July 4th, we averaged close to 1,500 cases per day – we believe in large part because of Independence Day gatherings.”
