- Approves Memorial Golf Tournament for July 13-19, 2020
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced the reopening in two weeks from today, June 19, 2020, of casinos, racinos, amusement parks and water parks.
“In all of these cases, these sectors have come up with plans that reduce the number of people, provide for sanitation, and in some cases, provide for one-way traffic. They are elaborate plans that we believe are consistent with protecting the public,” said Governor Mike DeWine.
He said that safety plans have been received from for the Memorial Golf Tournament to be held July 13-19, 2020,” adding that “we are approving that plan”.
“There are still a few categories of businesses that have not yet reopened, but we are working on them, and they will reopen shortly. Our ResponsibleRestartOhio plan is in phases because we want to make each business, activity, and venue as safe as they can be.”
On those who want reopening without conditions, Governor DeWine said, “to those who say we should open Ohio with no guidance or rules: That makes absolutely no sense in the midst of this pandemic. With COVID19 still as contagious as it has ever been, to do that would be irresponsible and an abandonment of the duties I have as your Governor.”
Governor DeWine disclosed that he spoke with “most of our university/college presidents about plans to return to class in the fall. We’ll continue to work with them and serve as a resource in regard to testing and other efforts to help protect the health of students, faculty, and employees.
“We have been actively reaching out to our retailers here in Ohio to strengthen our testing partnerships. This week, our team and I spoke with executives from CVS, Rite Aid, Walmart, Walgreens, and Kroger about the importance of testing.”
“By going to http://coronavirus.ohio.gov you can click on “Testing and Community Health Centers” at the top of the page. There you can see the locations of places where you can get a test. There are more than 40 retail testing locations across Ohio, with more to come.”
