• Supports more than 150 jobs
• Expands facility by 970,000 square feet

At 10.38am, Thursday, February 6, 2020 the Facebook New Albany Data Center, Ohio was switched on to serve traffic globally, with Governor Mike DeWine leading the team.

The data center represents an investment of $1billion and will support more than 150 jobs.

With a 970,000 square foot expansion of the data center, making it a 2.5 million square foot campus,

the New Albany Data Center is now part of the company’s global infrastructure which helps bring

put down roots and grow a business,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

“The relationship among Facebook, the state of Ohio, JobsOhio and our local economic development partners was integral to the success of this project. We look forward to seeing Facebook succeed here in Ohio.”

pool for construction and operations staff, and some incredible state and local partners,” said

Bobby Hollis, Director of Global Energy, Environment, and Site Selection at Facebook.

“We are proud to help bring additional economic and workforce development opportunities to Ohio and

look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership for years to come.”

Facebook is committed to investing in the long-term vitality of the state and local economy. As part

of that commitment, Facebook announced a new partnership with the Licking Heights School

District to strengthen STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math) programming in

local schools.

Through this partnership, Facebook will help build a new lab and develop a new integration program that will enhance students’ skills and better prepare them for the careers of the future. This grant will benefit approximately 1,300 high school students in Licking Heights.

“Facebook’s first investment in Ohio means we have a new cloud computing friend in our state, and

we like that,” said JobsOhio president and chief investment Officer J.P. Nauseef.

“Along with our partners at One Columbus and New Albany, we look forward to working with Facebook as it stablishes and expands its Ohio operations.”

According to a study from RTI International, it is estimated that for everyone Facebook data center

job, there are five jobs supported elsewhere in the economy. And for every $1 million in Facebook’s

operations spending, there are 13 jobs supported in the economy.

During the construction of Facebook’s New Albany Data Center, there were approximately 1,200 workers on site at peak.

“From a global standpoint Ohio is a great place to do business. We have affordable cost of living, we have great education opportunities, we are all about community. If you have all these three elements if you want to start business these are things you have to look into,” Mayor of City of City New Albany, Sloan Spalding said.

“In New Albany, we are very lucky to be geographically located in a great spot. We are about a 10-hour drive from all about 75 percent of the population of the United States. From manufacturing and distribution center, we are right in the middle of it all.

“With our have connectivity with AEP, electricity, and with fiber connection, tech jobs now know that New Albany is the right place to do business.

“The central Ohio community is geared towards growth and we know we need great transportation, affordable housing, access to education and high paying jobs and those four things are coming together right here in our community”.

Facebook apps and services to billions of people around the world. Facebook first announced it

would build a data center in Ohio in August 2017.
