The Columbus Board of Education has announced the selection of Dr. Talisa Dixon as the next Superintendent/CEO of Columbus City Schools.
The Board’s vote Thursday, September 20, 2018 evening was unanimous. Following the Board’s decision, President Gary L. Baker II contacted the finalist by phone to congratulate her.
“During this process, the Board’s interviews and community feedback revealed Dr. Dixon’s high level of experience and capability to lead our District,” said President Baker.
“Yet it was during her Day in the District this past week that we saw how well received she was by our students, our families, and so many members of our community.”
Dr. Dixon is currently Superintendent of Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools. She would be the 21st superintendent to lead Columbus City Schools since 1847.
It’s hoped that she will start the new position on or about January 1, 2019.
Before the selection is finalized, the candidate will undergo a complete background check. Then a contract will need to be negotiated with assistance from the Board’s outside legal counsel Taft Law.
“In the meantime, the Board will continue to look to our Interim Superintendent to lead this District forward,” added Board President Baker.
“We thank Dr. John Stanford for addressing and advancing several key initiatives and launching our successful school year. We know he will keep this District on a mission-driven path that lays a firm foundation for our next superintendent.”
