A two-day Migrant and Leadership Academy will hold in Columbus, Ohio on Monday, September 24 and Tuesday, September 25, 2018. The program is a collaboration of the ETSS and BNC with support from Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services.
A statement from the organizers said the two-day workshop will offer migrants and refugees the opportunity to come together to share experiences, connect with each other, and develop the skills necessary to advocate on issues of importance to migrants and refugees in the state of Ohio.
The registration for the program which closes on Monday, August 20th is online on https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MQSGF99.
According to the organizers, “the training is designed to hone the leadership skills; create opportunity for networking and incentives for participants to take the experience back to their local communities and advocate for issues of concern to the broader migrant and refugee community.”
The leadership training will include an advocacy visit to our State Capitol to share stories and advocate for legislation that will promote welcoming policies in Ohio State.
If selected to attend, the organizers will cover transportation, room and board.
