The Whitehall Senior Center welcomed Whitehall, Ohio Mayor Michael T. Bivens for a warm and informative “Coffee and Talk” gathering recently, where residents had the opportunity to hear firsthand about the city’s plans, progress, and long-term vision.
Mayor Bivens highlighted key initiatives designed to support community growth, enhance public services, and strengthen Whitehall’s future.
One of the central updates was the passage of the 2026 Resident Budget, a step that positions Whitehall to continue improving local infrastructure and expand essential services.
Bivens also shared encouraging news about the city’s population growth. With new residents steadily moving into Whitehall, projections indicate the residential community may reach 35,000 by the year 2050, a milestone that will shape future planning and development.
To support this growth, the city is preparing to launch a comprehensive Economic Development Study, which will guide decisions on land use, business development, and community investment. This includes ongoing progress with projects such as Spark House, expanded retail opportunities, and revenue-building initiatives designed to strengthen Whitehall’s economic foundation.
Residents also learned about major infrastructure improvements on the horizon. A significant $1 million investment has been set aside for sidewalk enhancements along Yearling Road—an important step toward improving safety and accessibility for families, seniors, and pedestrians.
In addition, Mayor Bivens announced that $165,000 has been proposed for approval by City Council. If passed, these funds will directly support seniors, families, children, and individuals facing poverty, ensuring that Whitehall continues to uplift and empower its most vulnerable residents.
From community development to economic planning, Mayor Bivens emphasized a clear message: “Whitehall is growing with intention. Through thoughtful budgeting, strategic development, and a commitment to resident well-being, the city is investing in a brighter, more connected future for all.”
