The Ghanaian in the diaspora community in Ohio will hold the 22nd Anniversary of GhanapicOhio, an expansive picnic of thrills and excitement on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Maloney Park, 1701 Joyce Avenue, Columbus, Ohio from 10am to 8pm.
“Nearly 50 groups, including churches, faith communities, ethnic associations, vendors, and volunteers have signed up to be part of this vibrant event,” said Elder Kwabenah Boamah-Acheampong, spokesperson for the GhanapicOhio.
“Together, we’re committed to making GhanapicOhio 2025 a shining reflection of our culture and contribution to the rich tapestry of the welcoming city of Columbus, Ohio.”
According to Elder Kwabenah Boamah-Acheampong, “GhanapicOhio started in 2002 at Innis Park. Four (4) Ghanaian community churches in Columbus – Jesus Power Assembly of God, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Church of Pentecost and Apostolic Church International felt the inspired need for an ecumenical picnic which will bring the community together to celebrate the outdoors with their families, friends and community.”
“By 2005, there were 11 hosting churches under the leadership of Elder Baffour Awuah (Chair) and Eld. Boamah-Acheampong (Secretary from Ramseyer Presbyterian Church) and the inspired guidance of Rev. Bassaw and the Council of Ghanaian Churches.”
