New Americans Magazine Appoints Alpha Tongor As Chair Of 10th Anniversary Planning Committee

Columbus, Ohio — New Americans Magazine, the premier publication serving new American, immigrant, and refugee communities, has announced the appointment of Alpha Tongor as Chair of its 10th Anniversary Planning Committee.

Mr. Tongor, a distinguished member of the magazine’s Editorial Advisory Committee, and President/CEO of JPS Print will lead the planning and execution of a series of events, programs, and campaigns to celebrate the publication’s landmark 10th Anniversary in July 2026.

“Alpha Tongor brings extraordinary leadership, vision, and dedication to everything he does. His deep understanding of our mission and his unwavering commitment to the new American community make him the ideal person to lead this historic celebration,” said Deba Uwadiae, Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of New Americans Magazine.

“As we mark 10 years of informing, inspiring, and empowering our community, I am confident that under Alpha’s leadership, the 10th Anniversary will be a landmark occasion that honors our journey and sets the stage for our next chapter.”

July 2026 marks the 10th Anniversary of New Americans Magazine, which was founded in July 2016 as a 4-page newsletter in Columbus, Ohio. Over the past decade, the publication has grown into a respected daily online platform with bimonthly print versions, serving thousands of readers across Ohio and beyond.

The magazine has established signature community programs including the Annual New Americans Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations contributing to the growth and integration of new American communities, and the Annual New Americans Book Fair, held in partnership with the New American Community Information Center and the Columbus Metropolitan Library.
