COTA offers Free Fares for Veterans on Oct. 27

In recognition of the grand opening of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) will offer all veterans and active duty personnel free rides on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

A statement from the Director of Government Affairs and Special Projects, Patrick Harris said that, “the COTA Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution offering free fares for Saturday, as well as November 12, 2018, the national observance of Veterans Day.

“To take advantage of the free fares, riders must present a Veterans Identification Card or any other Military ID. Fares will be waived on both fixed-route and Mainstream service as an appreciation for service personnel,” he added.

According to him, “the resolution adopted by the board states COTA’s appreciation for the service of all veterans who served in the U.S. armed forces and recognizes women and men who are in active duty in any branch of the U.S. military.

“There are 110,000 veterans in Franklin County, many of whom rely on COTA for their mobility needs. By offering free fares on these two days, COTA hopes to reach additional veterans and help them feel more comfortable using their services,” he said.
