The Consulate General of Nigeria in New York has announced the discontinuation of Visa Application Collection Services by OIS (the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the United States) and Revised Submission Procedures, requesting all applicants seeking Nigerian visas to submit their applications directly to the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta, until further notice.
The Consulate General of Nigeria, New York hereby notifies the general public, particularly prospective applicants for Nigerian visas residing in the United States, including Nigerians in the Diaspora, that OIS, the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the United States, has discontinued the collection and submission of visa applications on behalf of the Consulate.
Accordingly, all applicants seeking Nigerian visas are advised to submit their applications directly to the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta, until further notice. The Embassy and the Consulates General have put in place adequate arrangements to ensure the seamless submission, processing, and issuance of visas without disruption to applicants.
In this regard, all applicants are advised to take note of the following guidelines governing the submission of applications:
- Personal Appearance: All applicants (unless otherwise exempted) are required to appear in person at the Embassy or the relevant Consulate on their scheduled appointment date, along with their completed application, national passport, all supporting documents, and a self-addressed return envelope for the dispatch of their passport;
- Biometric Exemptions: Minors aged five (5) years and below, and adults aged seventy (70) years and above, are exempted from fingerprint and photograph capture;
- Submission by Exempted Applicants: All exempted applicants are required to submit their completed application, national passport, and all supporting documents by mail, using a recognized courier service of their choice, together with a self-addressed return envelope, to the Embassy or the relevant Consulate;
- No On-Site Collection: Passport collection in person is not permitted at the Embassy or the Consulates. All passports will be returned exclusively through the self-addressed return envelope submitted by the applicant.
Applicants are further advised to continue monitoring the official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigerian Missions in the United States for further updates on visa application procedures.
