The countdown to the 10th Anniversary Gala Night of New Americans Magazine officially began this week as community leaders Alpha Tongor, Zari Carmona Tongor, and Kawther Musa joined Publisher Deba Uwadiae to launch the first set of tickets for the milestone celebration.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Felbry College School of Nursing, 6055 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, Ohio marks a decade of storytelling, advocacy, and community engagement centered on the lives and contributions of immigrants and refugees across Ohio, while City of Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther will deliver the keynote address.

The ticket launch, held in Columbus, symbolized the unity and shared purpose that have defined the magazine’s mission since its founding in 2016. Alpha, Zari, and Kawther, each a respected voice within Central Ohio’s diverse communities praised the magazine’s role in elevating immigrant stories and strengthening civic participation.

“You don’t want to miss this event. One of the most impactful events in central Ohio this year is the New Americans magazine 10th Anniversary Gala Night. It is 10 years of impact in the new American community. Come out and support us. Do not miss this event,” said Alpha Tongor, former Executive Director, Liberians in Columbus Inc.

“Come out and support this great initiative,” said Zari Tongor, Senior Marketing Manager, JPS Print.

Also, Community Health Advocate Kawther Musa said “this celebration is for all of us and not just for the magazine.”

Speaking at the launch, Publisher Deba Uwadiae said the anniversary represents “a celebration of the communities whose stories have shaped the magazine’s journey and a renewed commitment to amplifying immigrant voices for the next decade.”

“We have the honor of having the City of Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther coming to deliver the keynote address at the 10th anniversary gala night.”

The Gala Night will bring together community leaders, elected officials, business partners, honorees, and readers for an evening of recognition, cultural celebration, and reflection on the magazine’s impact. The event will also highlight the publication’s growth from a four‑page newsletter into a trusted statewide media platform documenting entrepreneurship, education, public service, and cultural heritage within New American communities.

With tickets now available, organizers say they look forward to welcoming guests to a historic evening that honors the past, celebrates the present, and inspires the future of immigrant storytelling in Ohio.

Tickets can be ordered from Danlette Washington on 3802695089 and Okon Ekpenyong 6145229388.
