The Bhutan Nepali community in Columbus, Ohio is grieving over the death of Ruka Dahal Neupane (33) and her 7years old son in a tragic incident of drowning last weekend while vacationing in Mexico.

A friend of the family, Kya told New Americans magazine that Ruka fought had to rescue her son while in distress in the swimming pool.

Members of the family are raising funds to bring the bodies back to Columbus, Ohio and have put up a GoFundMe appeal.

The appeal on GoFundMe said “We, the Neupane family, are mourning the loss of the son and wife of our beloved brother, Mr. Bal Neupane, and we are requesting your prayers and support. Residents of Blacklick, Ohio, the family of four went on a vacation to Mexico last week.

“In a tragic case of drowning, the mother – Ruka Dahal Neupane (age 33) – and the elder son (age 7) both lost their lives in the foreign country. We need your help in reuniting the bodies of the innocent mother-son with the rest of their family members in the United States.

“However, this transportation is extremely costly and is adding a financial strain to the mourning family. Please support the Neupane family in this tragic and very unfortunate situation through GoFundMe. We appreciate any help that we can receive in this hard time. Thank you all very much!”
