Columbus Records Zero Traffic Fatalities on Surface Streets In August

Columbus, Ohio recorded zero traffic fatalities on surface streets in August 2025 for the first time since 2018, as the world prepares to mark World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

“In August, the Columbus community experienced a traffic safety milestone. There were zero traffic fatalities on our surface streets. It is with mixed emotions that we acknowledge this milestone,” said Katherine ‘Swid’ Swidarski, Vision Zero Coordinator.

“There had not been a traffic fatality-free month on Columbus streets since November of 2018, accentuating how much work is yet to be done.”

“We continue to implement projects, policies, and other strategies to achieve the goal of zero fatal crashes in Columbus. Attached is a brief summary of progress since the last update in early 2025.”
