Columbus Metropolitan Library Ranks 4th Most-Followed Library in America
By Okon Ekpenyong
With over 300,000 followers on social media, the Columbus Metropolitan Library has been ranked as the fourth most followed library in the United States of America. This represents a gain of more than 100,000 in just one year.
New York City tops the ranking with 3.4 million followers, Los Angeles 487,000 and Milwaukee 467,000. Columbus is ahead of Brooklyn which has 230,000 followers.
Since 2014, the Columbus Metropolitan Library has added 16 more locations and made countless upgrades to the existing locations.
With the reach comes more online offerings, wider access to ESL classes, citizenship resources, job help, voter information, and multilingual materials.
It also highlights the library’s role as a safe, welcoming space where newcomers can learn, connect, and build community.
“Community members are encouraged to keep the momentum going by following, sharing, and using the library’s free programs. Every click helps amplify immigrant voices and expand access to trusted information,” according to the library on its website.
“Columbus celebrates this achievement with pride—and yes, Milwaukee, we’re coming for that #3 spot.”
Meanwhile, the Linden Branch on 2223 Cleveland Avenue will open to customers with the cutting of the ribbon on the new library on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10 a.m.
The building was transformed from Sq. Ft.: 12,700 to Sq. Ft.: 27,000.
