Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther attended the “We Got US” campaign with numerous new American community members and leaders on how to reduce violence on the West Side of Columbus, Ohio.
Mayor Ginther emphasized the need for the community to come together to create a safe and unified environment for all.
The Mayor also outlined the importance of initiatives such as “We Got US,” which provides resources and access to programs to help youth and citizens build a better future. He reiterated the need for everyone to unite and #putdowntheguns# to create a safe and prosperous Columbus.
The “We Got US” campaign is a grassroots effort to promote peace and justice in Columbus. It is an initiative of the Help & Hope Community Center, which provides programming and support to improve the lives of community members.
The campaign’s mission is to bring together leaders from all walks of life to address the root causes of violence and promote safety and understanding in the community. Through this initiative, the leaders aim to reduce crime and create a more inclusive and prosperous city. #wegotus#
Mayor Ginther further stressed that it’s not enough to discuss the problem — “we need to come up with effective solutions.” He suggested that responsible gun ownership, community collaboration, and a focus on education and job training can all be powerful tools in reducing the violence in our communities. He also challenged community members to take action, calling for everyone to work together to create a safer and more unified Columbus.
Burhan Mohamed, a community activist in Columbus, Ohio, expressed his joy over the event’s attendance. “I’m so thankful that many leaders, including State Representative Ismail Mohamed, attended this event. With the help of this effort, Columbus’ youth and citizens can stand up to violence and work together to make the city a better place for everyone,” said Burhan Mohamed.

Despite the history of violence and crime on the west side of Columbus, the Community conversation with Mayor Ginther was a meaningful step in the right direction. The discussion aimed to develop better relationships between community members, increase community engagement, and help reduce the violence in the area.
