- Overhauls Medicaid program with Ohio RISE
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has urged Ohioans to remain cautious in combating Covid19 while revealing the death of a grandfather who tested positive and died of the virus few weeks after attending the grandchild’s wedding in August 28, 2020.
“Eleven people tested positive for COVID19. The bride and the groom both got sick and so did parents and grandparents,” said Governor Mike DeWine.
“A couple of weeks after the wedding, one of the grandfathers of the couple passed away.”
“I’m not sharing these stories to hurt anyone. It’s heartbreaking. But it also shows us how quickly this virus can spread. These stories remind us that we cannot let our guard down.”
On Ohio Medicaid program, Governor DeWine said, “We have developed a new vision for Ohio’s Medicaid program that focuses on people and not just the business of managed care. This is the first major overhaul of Medicaid in 15 years.”
“The Department of Medicaid will also be issuing a second managed care application later this fall to specifically serve children who have complex behavioral health needs.”
“Our new managed care program for these children — called Ohio RISE ––will work to build up evidence-based care coordination and behavioral health programs throughout the state, ensuring access for more children and better outcomes.”
