Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has announced that “Ohioans can head to the polls with confidence knowing that bipartisan election officials have spent months preparing for a safe, secure and accessible election.
In an address on the preparedness of the State for the November 3 election, Secretary Frank LaRose said “whether you vote early in person, by mail, or on Election Day, our dedicated teams are ready to make sure your voice is heard and every lawful vote is counted accurately. That’s the Gold Standard every Ohioan can be proud of.”
OHIO IS READY FOR ELECTION DAY
- Ohio’s 88 bipartisan county boards are prepared to serve more than 8 million registered voters.
- Polls open Tuesday, November 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Anyone in line by 7:30 p.m. may vote.
- Confirm your polling place, bring acceptable photo ID, and review your sample ballot at VoteOhio.gov. Some counties have multi-page ballots and hundreds of local issues are on the ballot across the state.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO VOTE – BUT DON’T WAIT
- Absentee ballot request deadline: Tuesday, October 27, 8:30 p.m. Applications must be received by the county board
- Early in-person voting: Oct. 27, 7:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.; Oct. 28-30, 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; Oct. 31, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Nov. 1, 1-5 p.m.
- Regular absentee ballots must be received by the county board by 7:30 p.m. Election Day; a postmark is not enough. Personally return outstanding ballots and track them at VoteOhio.gov/Track.
ELECTIONS ARE SECURE BY DESIGN
- Voter-verifiable paper ballots, bipartisan oversight, ballot chain-of-custody safeguards and pre-election equipment testing protect each vote. Post-election audits verify the result.
- County boards prepare for disruptions and any number of issues that could arise.
- Use VoteOhio.gov and county boards of elections for reliable election information.
WHAT HAPPENS ON ELECTION NIGHT
- After polls close, bipartisan election officials reconcile ballots, secure equipment, and report unofficial results at LiveResults.OhioSoS.gov.
- Election Night totals are unofficial. Eligible provisional ballots and timely military/overseas ballots are reviewed in the official canvass before certification and audits.
SEE SOMETHING. SAY SOMETHING
- Alert a precinct election official or voting location manager to potential issues at the polls.
- Report suspected violations or intimidation to the county board or Ohio’s Election Integrity Unit.
