On July 31, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted a stay to postpone the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Nepal, Honduras and Nicaragua until November 18, 2025.
TPS will continue and Form I‑766, Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) with category A12 or C19 will be valid through November 18, 2025. Refer to the EAD Extension dropdown on the USCIS TPS webpage for each country to see a list of EAD expiration dates that remain valid through November 18, 2025.
SAVE will verify if an alien has TPS or a pending TPS application and any updated employment authorization validity period using information from any TPS-related document, such as a Form I‑797, Approval Notice; Form I‑797C, Notice of Action; or Form I‑766, Employment Authorization Document with category A12 or C19.
SAVE is an online service administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that provides point in time immigration status and naturalized/acquired U.S. citizenship information to federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal agencies. SAVE is fast, secure, and reliable, and enables registered user agencies to make accurate decisions for applicants seeking benefits and licenses.
Approximately 1,200 agencies nationwide use SAVE to support their benefit eligibility and licensing determinations. This includes agencies such as those that provide health care benefits, social security benefits, education grants and assistance, state driver’s licenses and ID cards, and occupational and professional licenses.
In fiscal year 2023, SAVE performed over 21.5 million verifications.
In some instances, the benefit-granting agency may need to institute additional verification.
