About Us


The New Americans magazine is a general interest publication designed to promote and project activities, events and programs of the community, especially the underserved new American, immigrant and refugee community.

Publisher/Editor-In-Chief, Deba Uwadiae

From the base in Columbus, Ohio, the daily online publication is complemented with a regular special edition print version that is circulated through subscription and free distribution.

The New Americans began publication as a 4-page Newsletter in July 2016 and became a 12-page magazine in July 2017. It grew to a 16-page magazine in September 2017.

The New Americans magazine hosts an Annual American Awards to recognize individuals and organizations that are contributing to growth, development and integration in the new American community. It began the annual New Americans Book Fair in October 2022.

With the New American Community Information Center and the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Karl Road branch, the magazine began hosting the Annual New Americans Book Fair in October 2022.

The Publisher/Editor-In-Chief of the magazine, Deba Uwadiae is also the author of the book, “Coming to America: Early Life in America and Citizenship” and co-author of “Nigeria’s Aborted 3rd Republic and the June 12 Debacle: Reporters’ Account”.

He is also the Executive Director of the New American Community Information Center, NACIC.
