US assures Nigerian President-elect Bola Tinubu of further strengthening US-Nigeria relationship in his tenure

The United States Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken has assured Nigerian President-elect Bola Tinubu of the US commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Nigeria relationship with the incoming administration.

The Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, in a statement by the spokesperson, Matthew Miller said in a call to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, May 16, 2023, that “the U.S.-Nigeria partnership is built on shared interests and strong people-to-people ties.”

“And those links should continue to strengthen under President-elect Tinubu’s tenure. administration.”

Spokesperson Matthew Miller said that Secretary Blinken and President-elect Tinubu discussed “the importance of inclusive leadership that represents all Nigerians, continued comprehensive security cooperation, and reforms to support economic growth.”

President-elect Bola Tinubu will be sworn-in on Monday, May 29, 2023.
